No one ever plans to have to make those tough decisions. You and your sister are remarkable people. We all became better people, but we also watched out for each other. I love you, Mom

You mom rocks. I had a fucked up childhood (kidnapped, adopted, etc.) which made me realize early on that life is not what we dream it to be. My pragmatic perspective helps with my relationship with my mom, who I think of as "Debbie" fist and "Mom" second, allowing me to not place her on a pedastal and understand her as a human first and as my mother second. So, I respect what you said about seeing your parents as people- I think so many people end up with cruel relationships with their parents, holding them to higher standards than we do others, often unable to forgive parents for making mistakes. But anyway, I appreciated your blog-- Moms rock!
