i like eric fromm's thoughts on love a little better. i.e. love is not something that one falls into without thought of consequence; rather it is an art that requires knowledge and effort. when fromm published his book "the art of loving" in 1956 it was considered rather revolutionary. and it seems it could still be seen as such in our world of "mr. right and fairy tale weddings."

love as a verb rather than an adjective seems revolutionary to me. putting aside the act of having your relationship approved by the state, there's something powerful in saying "i acknowledge that to love is an art and i publicly commit to practice that art with you through our lives together." congrats brant and anne marie. i think its beautiful and inspiring. in a day and age where many people go into marriage without questioning it (i'll grant you that stan), i see your marriage as revolutionary in that you are facing these questions head on and creating your own definition of your love and commitment.

considering that fromm also wrote about the escape from freedom, automaton conformity, authoritarianism, and destructiveness, you might want to check him out stan. :)

Read your post.

I would argue that love is given without regard for its consequences and thus (considering Immanuel Kant's definition of freedom) released in turn from any causation, thus being an act of true freedom.

Incorruptible? Possibly.
Revolutionary? Not quite convinced yet.

That shouldn't stop you from having an awesome wedding this weekend. Congratulations and best of luck!
